Family

Richard Edward Carpani: born - 1936 09 15 in Saskatoon Saskatchewan

Father: Gordon Carpani, born - Elstow Saskatchewan, 1911

Mother: Alma Francis McLeod, born - Kindersley Saskatchewan, 1914

My Great-great-grandfather, Carlos Carpani, emigrated from Milan to London England in about 1840. The business he started there (Carpani and Son with his son, Luigi) was finally wound up in the mid 1970's when my Great-aunt Hilda Carpani died. Carlos' grandson, Stanley, my grandfather, homesteaded in Saskatchewan in 1904 at Elstow. He had fought in the Boer War. His wife (Coraline Dallas) came to Saskatchewan (then still part of the North-West territories) as a Barr Colonist on April 17, 1903.

My mother's father, John Duncan McLeod, born in Vankleek Hill in Glengarry County,  Ontario but lived most of his life in Saskatchewan. His ancestors were  Scotsmen who came to Canada in 1794 as the British were clearing land for sheep farming. My mother's mother was Alma (Heal) Tucker from Mitchell Ontario.

I am married to Donna (Bell) who was born and raised in Sarnia. Her father was John Robert Bell, a long time employee of Imperial Oil. Her mother is Clara Bell, who is still with us and living on her own despite having been born in 1917.

Donna and I have two children, Wayne (1960) Living in Chamlachie, Ontario and Susan (1965) living in Georgetown, Ontario. Both are married and Wayne has two children.

I had a sister Pat Holtslander who had three children two living in Saskatoon and one in Montreal. My sister died from cancer on July 13, 2005.

Donna and I have a dog, Ebony, and a cat, Bobbie.
