Sarnia Lambton Golden "K" Kiwanis

When I retired in 1995, one of my new volunteer activities was to join the Sarnia-Lambton Golden "K" Kiwanis club. We are a group of retirees who meet every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. The mission of the club is helping children.

Our club is a growing club - mostly because all of the members are retired, and that is a growing section of the population. We currently have about 80 members.

The club does such things as:

  • Help the Salvation Army with manning their Christmas Kettles.
  • Help the Sarnia Humane Society with their tag days
  • Have a Grandpa's Christmas party, Grandpa's picnic and a visit to a Sarnia Sting game, all for under privileged children in the city.
  • Deliver "Meals on Wheels"
  • Help at the Inn of the Good Shepherd
  • Made a major financial commitment to the New hospital
  • Support the Children's Hospital of Western Ontario
  • Donate to many other charities, most but not all, to do with helping children.
