Work HistoryI am probably one of the last of the generation to have worked for the same organization for all of my career. I started in 1958 as a junior process engineer with Polymer Corporation. I retired, after 37 years, from Nova Corporation. During my tenure the company I worked for was known as: Polysar, Petrosar (a subsidiary), Polysar (again) and Nova Chemicals. I "survived" several reorganizations and corporate take-overs. My job responsibilities were varied. I reviewed my career for a talk I once gave and counted 22 different managers I had worked for. I went from plant operations, to marketing, to finance, and was in an information systems department. From early in my career I was either a technical specialist or a group supervisor in the various departments. One highlight job was being on loan to the "SOAP" project which later became the subsidiary corporation Petrosar (now known as Nova Corunna site). My job there (in the mid 70's) was to build a computer model of the new corporation which was used to make the investment decision. Thanks for visiting! Dick Carpani |
